Spread the love

When my husband and I were trying to get pregnant, I was well aware of many symptoms of pregnancy: the sore breasts, swollen feet, mood swings, wacky cravings, morning sickness, you name it. Hell, some people even clued me in on their changing bowel movements and strange bodily fluids. You know, just to warn me.

Pregnancy symptoms vary from person to person like any other thing. There are a few lucky moms-to-be who breeze through pregnancy with slight discomfort. Many of us experience a bunch of weird changes in our body that are slightly freaky but overall manageable.

Pregnancy is a beautiful thing and it does have its perks, but it also comes with its own set of challenges – like weird pregnancy symptoms!

While some of these symptoms are notorious (like fatigue and cravings), others are ones we don’t always hear about (vision changes? And how about that discharge? Whoa!).

It’s important for moms-to-be to keep their doctor in the loop about any symptoms they’re having. There are many that are just par for the pregnancy course — like swelling — but it could also be a sign of a complication, so monitoring the situation closely.

Continue reading the unheard and annoying bodily changes that can happen during pregnancy. And hang in there — all will be worth it once the baby arrives!

1. “You’ve Started Resembling Chewbacca”

That’s exactly what my husband said when I was just a few weeks pregnant. Sounds weird right? Yes – a weird pregnancy symptom for sure!

Maybe it sounds like I’m exaggerating this a bit, but you definitely won’t look like Chewbacca (hopefully!), but facial hair growth is a common pregnancy symptom.

This symptom may vary from person to person and you can blame your raging hormones for this since they’re the ones causing your hair to grow at super-fast speed and maybe even in some new (and embarrassing) places.

Also, when I tell you that I always walked around with a pocket mirror and a pair of tweezers in my purse during pregnancy. Believe me! I was that hairy!.

2. “What’s Taking So Long In There”

Our mornings usually started with my husband banging on the bathroom door and asking me this question! Surprisingly, I’ve never asked him that 😉

I experienced severe constipation. I called it a “Brain Haemorrhage Poop” or “Pop a vein in your forehead” poop – this is where you strain so much to get it out that you practically have a stroke. But once it was out, it was the best feeling in the world, and people say “love is the best feeling ever”. Yeah right!

Straining on the toilet can cause uncomfortable (and even painful) Hemorrhoids. Make sure to include lots of greens and fiber in your diet from the beginning itself.

3. “You Walk Slower Than Our Turtles”

In my defense – I’ve always been an active person. I love walking and gymming. But during my first trimester, I was extremely tired and sleepy! I literally slept all day and walked liked a zombie. My husband got so scared and thought something was wrong with me. OF COURSE, my body was making a baby!

Who can blame a mom-to-be for feeling exhausted? Making a tiny human isn’t easy takes a hell lot of energy! Early in pregnancy, fatigue is likely caused by those hard-at-work hormones.

There You Have it, Mamas!

As unpleasant as these odd pregnancy symptoms may sound, most of these symptoms are short-lived.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog and if I haven’t scared you enough then I have a few more annoying ones 😀

Now it’s your turn to tell me the annoying, gross or weird pregnancy symptom you experienced.
